YO Stations and the Bouvet 2026 DXpedition – 3Y0K
The activation of Bouvet Island by the 3Y0K Bouvet DXpedition Team was one of the most important DX events of 2026. Considered one of the rarest and most difficult-to-access DXCC entities, Bouvet attracted the attention of amateur radio operators from around the world, including the YO community.
For stations in Romania, making a contact with 3Y0K was not easy at all. Propagation toward this part of the globe often proved to be unpredictable, and favorable openings were limited. In addition, the massive pile-ups generated by the worldwide interest in this activation made every contact a real challenge.
Nevertheless, many YO radio amateurs managed to enter the expedition’s log, demonstrating perseverance, experience, and a solid understanding of radio propagation. To highlight these outstanding results, I have published a Top 100 list of YO stations that worked 3Y0K, based on statistics generated by the logging platform Club Log.

For some operators, the contact with Bouvet confirmed a rare and long-desired DX, while for others this activation remains a challenge for the future. Regardless of the outcome, the experience of monitoring frequencies, analyzing propagation, and trying to find the right moment to call is part of the very essence of DX amateur radio.
It is also worth mentioning the remarkable effort of the 3Y0K team, who operated under extreme conditions in one of the most remote places on Earth. The complex logistics, difficult weather conditions, and challenging terrain made this DXpedition an impressive technical and human achievement.
The YO amateur radio community expresses its thanks and appreciation to the 3Y0K team for this memorable activation and for giving radio amateurs around the world the opportunity to work one of the most wanted DX entities.
