A Special Day at Solaris WoodLand Transylvania – Stories from the 3Y0K Bouvet DXpedition
Some meetings leave lasting memories, and today was certainly one of those special occasions.
It was a true pleasure and honor to welcome my friends and fellow amateur radio operators, Adrian – KO8SCA and Gabi – YO8WW, to Solaris WoodLand Transylvania.
What started as a simple visit quickly turned into hours of great conversations, shared memories, laughter, and discussions about the hobby that has connected us for so many years—amateur radio.
One of the highlights of the day was listening to Adrian as he shared fascinating behind-the-scenes stories from the remarkable 3Y0K Bouvet 2026 DXpedition. Beyond the official reports and photographs, we had the privilege of hearing personal experiences about the challenges, logistics, and unforgettable moments from one of the world’s most demanding DXpeditions.
These conversations reminded me once again that amateur radio is about much more than radios, antennas, and making contacts. It is about friendship, shared experiences, adventure, and a community that brings people together across continents.
During our discussions, Adrian KO8SCA shared with us that, starting on July 8, he would be in the United Kingdom, where he would participate in the 2026 World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC 2026), a competition considered by many to be the “Olympics of Amateur Radio,” as part of the United States team.
I was especially pleased to hear that Adrian and Gabi were impressed by the peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty of Solaris WoodLand Transylvania. For me, this place is much more than a mountain retreat—it is where amateur radio, emergency communications (EmComm), bushcraft, outdoor living, and nature come together.
Thank you both for your visit, your friendship, and for making this day truly unforgettable.
I look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
73,
Hadrian – YO2BTW
